Kinectimals sends virtual cats on Xbox console away day

Published by at

The latest Xbox game addition to the Windows Phone Marketplace is Kinectimals, a virtual-pet style of game. It is a cut down version of the Xbox 360 title of the same name, which sees you visit the island of Lemuria, where you play with, care for and interact with a range of 'big' cat kittens.

The cute factor in Kinectimals might be a little too much for those of a hard hearted nature, but with impressive graphics and easy touchscreen-based interaction it is a game that should find its way on to many a Windows Phone device.

One of the most interesting features of the game is its ability to link with the Xbox 360. The Kinectivity feature of the game allows you to transfer your cat back and forth between your phone and Xbox 360 console. For Kinectimal Xbox 360 owners this brings the opportunity to add/unlock five more cats in the console version of the game.

Kinectimals is not the first game to feature this kind of data sharing, but it is one of the most effective and is a good demonstration of the benefits of an ecosystem approach. I've no doubt is something we'll be seeing a lot more of in the future.

A trial version of Kinectimals is available and the full game can be purchased for £2.29 / $2.99 / €2.99.

We'll have a full review in due course, once Fee-fee-trixibell has coughed up his hairball.
