Windows Phone wins "Operating System of the Year"

Know Your Mobile, in their annual awards for the mobile industry, have handed the "Best Operating System of the Year" to Windows Mobile. "‘It has the most potential, with a unique interface and a rapidly growing apps selection. It has a great looking UI and doesn't look like Android or iOS." Congratulations to Microsoft and the team, and it's going to be a great 2012 as more people are introduced to the Live Tiles and Metro UI.

The goal of a smartphone remains constant over platforms, and while the similarity of the application grid launcher with menu buttons at the bottom has been around since the days of the Apple Newton (and before), the fresh look that Redmond has brought to the devices is an eye catcher in the store, and certainly makes my smartphone fun to use!

Of course those of us who were working with the Zune HDs and Windows Media Centres laugh at this "new" look we've had for three years, but we'll let the slide.

Hat tip to WP Central for the link.
