Minor Windows Phone update (7740) rolls out

A minor update for Windows Phone (OS version 7.10.7740.16) is now rolling out for a number of devices in a variety of markets. The update fixes a bug in the email application when using a Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 account and also fixes a voicemail notification issue.

7740 is a platform wide update. This is separate from the individual updates that devices receive (e.g. the Lumia 800 is due an update in early December). 7740 can be considered a minor bug fix update. The Exchange 2003 update is important as there is a large installed base of user using this version of the Exchange server.

The update is rolling out in a number of markets and a number of different operators. Our unbranded UK Nokia Lumia 800 and Samsung Omnia 7 have both received the update. A quick Twitter search '7740' suggests the update is widely available across a number of devices and markets. However, it is likely that some devices, on some operators, may not receive the update immediately due to the normal delays in the certification process and related issues.
