Nokia Lumia 800 launches in Singapore

Published by , at

The Nokia Lumia 800 has officially launched in Singapore, with Nokia describing December 7th as 'not your everyday Wednesday'. As part of the launch Nokia held events for the media, developers and consumers. Singapore and Hong Kong are the first two Asian markets in which the Lumia 800 has gone on sale.

Media, bloggers and developers from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia were invited by Nokia to a launch event, where the keynote was given by Nokia Executive Vice President Niklas Savander. Developer sessions were also on offer, with key local developers sharing their experience with the platform. We'll have a more detailed report from the event later this week.

As part of the launch activities limited quantities of the Lumia 800 went on sale today (S$775 SIM free). The first hundred customers (at Read Bridge, Clark Quay) also received a Xbox 360, as part of a joint promotion between Nokia and Microsoft. Our man on the spot, Asri al-Baker, reports that people started queuing 8 hours before the device went on sale, something he can't remember occurring for any previous Nokia launch.
