Twitter client Peregrine soars over the Fail Whale

Published by at

Another week, another Twitter client to suggest. It's the turn of Peregrine, by Morten Nielsen, which is a free client using all the Metro UI style rules, supports Instapaper's "read it later", and server side compression to keep down your data use and save your bandwidth.

v1.4 has just been released, with some changes to the application icon and other miscellaneous minor bug fixes. Here's the main features list:

  • Simple interface true to the Windows Phone User Experience.
  • Fast start up time and smooth scrolling.
  • Remembers where you left of, and returns you to the last read tweet, unlike most other WinPhone twitter clients that return to the top of the list.
  • Live tile support showing unread tweets, mentions and messages.
  • Support for checking for messages while the app is not running.
  • Auto-complete usernames while typing a tweet.
  • Shows number or unread tweets, mentions and messages at a glance, with no need to pivot to the category.
  • Automatically updates unread-count as you scroll up through the tweets.
  • Location support in tweets.
  • Retrieve and create saved searches.
  • Instapaper "Read Later" support
  • TwitPic Support
  • Url Shortening Support
  • Fast load of tweets by using compressed data, while saving data on your dataplan.
