Paul Thurrott suggests "What Windows Phone needs to do in 2012"

Following on from his 2011 suggestions to Microsoft on Windows Phone, Paul Thurrott writes his wishlist for 2012. There's very little we'd argue about here, many of the choices are obvious areas for extension and improvement, but it's nice to see them laid out comprehensively and clearly. Thurrott also notes how accurate his 2011 list was, although I'm not sure if that blurs the line too much between prediction and recommendation.

Last year, I wrote about how Microsoft could fix Windows Phone in 2011. This year, I'd like to look back on my recommendations and see which the software giant took me up on. And then I'd like to examine the ways in which Microsoft can further improve Windows Phone in the coming year. Microsoft's mobile OS is a wonder of usability, clarity, and design, but few consumers seem to understand it even exists. It's time to fix that.

I might raise an eyebrow at the minimum specs - Thurrott argues these should be bumped up, but at the same time I'd like to see WP driven into the mid range market, and that means having a lower spec. How about the minimum stays as it is, and we bump up the numbers to a "recommended" spec, like they used to do on the back of boxes for Windows 98 applications?
