CheveronWP7 reaches maximum sales of 10,000 unlocked handsets

As part of the deal with Microsoft, the ChevronWP7 team agreed to sell 10,000 handset unlocking tokens through their site. That limit is almost upon them, and there are no plans to increase the number of tokens available (reports WP Central). Here's hoping you've already taken advantage of the offer if you were planning to!

Our agreement with Microsoft was to sell no more than 10,000 tokens. Our team doesn’t currently have plans to renegotiate this number, although it’s a matter we’re still discussing.

There's no doubt that their $9 unlock solution was cheaper than the $99 required under Microsoft's own system, and Microsoft are to be commended for giving the community a second alternative (and official) avenue to unlock their devices to develop on them, or run other homebrew applications.

We'd love to see ChevronWP7 open up again, and shall watch with keen interest. At the same time, we must also remember that the ChevronWP7 effort was a hobby for the team, and likely takes up a lot of their spare time. So congratulations for all their work so far.
