HopStop brings city route planning to Windows Phone

Published by at

Long running city transit guide service HopStop has released their Windows Phone application. Joining the iOS, Android, and Blackberry clients, the app will give you direction via public transport (such as tubes, buses and ferries), walking between transit stops or other points, and mixing up all these travel options to get the best route for you.

HopStop's main features, via their marketplace listing:

  • Get directions from your current location using GPS functionality
  • Access addresses from your contact list
  • Map a location and see nearby subway and bus stops
  • Estimate travel time and cost for a taxi and call taxi companies with a tap
  • Set your travel preferences – bus, subway, walking, taxi, include/exclude regional rail or vehicles operated by private companies
  • Save recent searches and favorite trips in MyTrips
  • Get biking directions in NYC, Washington DC, Chicago, and San Francisco
  • Find out how many calories you burn on each route and how many carbon emissions you save compared to driving
  • See wheelchair accessible and stroller friendly routes

Operating in 62 major cities around the America, Europe, and the UK, HopStop isn't limited to mobile clients. You can get directions via their website (www.hopstop.com) or through SMS, but it's far nicer on your mobile screen. Have a look to see if your city is listed on their site, and give it a go!
