The Lumia 800 is a beautiful phone, paired with what is possibly one of the most beautiful and consistent UIs I’ve seen so far, sure it might have some niggles in the design and setbacks in the OS being walled up; but when I think about the amazing People hub, the beautiful screen design and the general feel of the device it’s definitely a phone that shouldn’t be passed on, or at least not before taking an extremely long look at what you’re giving up, followed by second thoughts and doubts if you choose something else.
With a page-load of images and video, Ali's review takes in the main areas of use (such as the People hub, Music+Video, the camera, and Bing Search) and gives every area a good examination - all from the perspective of coming at this from from another smartphone family.
There's a lot of discussion about Windows Phone and if it's targeted towards people coming up from a feature phone, or moving from another smartphone family. I think this misses the point - Windows Phone was designed from a blank sheet of paper to do the job that people need a modern smartphone to do, and that shows through in all the reviews, no matter the starting point of the reviewer.
