Relive 1997 by playing Nokia Snake

Published by at

Snake '97 is a remake, for Windows Phone, of the much loved Nokia mobile phone game Snake. A Nokia 5110 is reproduced on screen, complete with dot matrix screen and keypad controls. Also reproduced are the monotone sounds, the addictive game-play and non-reset-able high score table. So it's quite probably the ultimate retro mobile phone game.

The one change that has been made to the game is the addition of two further levels of difficulty to the original nine.

Like all good games there's an amusing back story too, as the developer explains:

"The story behind this game is that my modern smartphone got damaged in an Amsterdam bar..., requiring me to revert back to an old phone. Suddenly I knew the modern smartphone was missing something and the idea for a accurate Snake remake was born."

Snake '97 can be downloaded from the Windows Phone Marketplace for £0.79 / €0.99 / $0.99. A trial version is available, with a limitation of a maximum score of 250 points.
