The new Metro inspired Windows Logo is here

To go along with the upcoming push on Windows 8, and the principle of Metro everywhere, Micrsoft have announced a new corporate logo. Sam Moreau goes into more detail on the official Blogging Windows site today.

Mixing the classic four pane look that has been part of the Windows Logo since version 1.0 with the Metro UI inspired tile look, there's far less detail on show here, but it does mean that the logo is going to be consistent with what's seen on various Microsoft powered devices during 2012 and beyond.

I'm not a designer, but I like this look. I'm fully expecting to see different spot colours used in the marketing, and lots of people being the first to come up with the idea of putting the red, green, blue, and yellow into the tile design. Oh and I'm sure professional designers will have issues as well.

To me it's a clear statement that reflects the products and services of the company. It's a departure from the past, but so is Windows 8, Windows Phone, Xbox 360 and Metro.

What do you all make of it?
