Gerbil Physics is the latest exclusive addition to the Windows Phone Xbox Live game line up. It is a physics based puzzle game that see you demolish structures made up of cute looking gerbils by strategically placing bombs and other weapons. Gerbils are inherently rather cute and between the cut-scene gerbils pictures, changing facial expressions and animations as a bomb send a gerbil flying it's very hard not to smile as you play the game. Combined with the intuitive and addictive game play this makes for a great Xbox Live title.

Gerbil Physics is described by its creators, Pencel Games, as a "re-imagining of the acclaimed Xbox Indie title for the Xbox 360". This makes it one of the first Xbox Live Indie games to make the jump to Windows Phone, something we would hope to see more of in the future, given the rich pool of games that could be drawn upon.

There's a fun mission statement too, that explains some of the thinking behind the game:

Remember how much fun it was to kick down a sandcastle when you were younger? Maybe you still enjoy doing that? Well, Gerbil Physics is that feeling made digital. In fact it's better because you get to use awesome destructive tools and it's all magically captured inside your Windows Phone!

Gerbil Physics has 72 levels to work through, three times more than its Xbox Live Indie Game ancestor. There's also new music, four times as many animations and improvements to the physics engine (faster and tighter game play). Each level can be completed in a basic way, but the real challenge comes in trying to use the minimum amount of weapons and tools possible. Pencel Games is also promising future updates with additional level and improved language support.
