On This Day on your start screen

On This Day is an app that serves up an interesting daily snack of facts, gleaned from Wikipedia's on this day page. Events are divided up into highlights, holidays, events, deaths and births. Tapping on any event will take you to the Wikipedia page for the event in question. There's also an optional Live Tile, which means you can see on this day information, at a glance, on your start screen.

In addition to the basic tap to article functionality, there is also a context menu, available via a long tap, that offers links to additional articles around a given event. Should you wish to, you can also skip forwards or backwards a day using the on screen buttons, plus there's an option to jump to any day using a standard date picker control.

On This Day is a well put together app, with an easy to use and attractive UI, good performance and informative content. For trivia fans, it is a worthy addition to any Windows Phone device.
