The original "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster was one of a series issued by the British government (Ministry of Information) in 1939 and was aimed at keeping up morale in the face of a possible invasion. It was distributed only in relatively limited numbers and, as such, did not really become well known until a surviving poster was rediscovered in a Northumberland bookshop in 2000.
Since its rediscovery the poster has inspired a range of creative designs and messages. With the Keep Calm app, you too can create your own twist on the classic war time design.
