Monster Island attacks your wallet from Xbox Live

Published by at

The weekly Xbox Live release is an intersting game for a variety of reasons. Monster Island as a game is relatively easy to describe thanks to the similarities with Fragger, another game from developer Miniclip. It's when you look beyond the gameplay to the in game purchasing that it gets more... controversial.

You can either grind for a long time to earn the stars to buy access to new levels and other in game goodies, or buy your way immediately with cold hard cash. And if you want to get your full 200 gamer points, you must buy something with your cash. It's the first mobile Xbox Live to have such an achievement, and it's sure to raise eyebrows in the gaming community.

It's also taking some time to bubble through the various regional marketplaces - currently it's available in the US, and we're expecting other territories to pick it up soon. You can view Monster Island on your handset by scanning this QR code (which we tag every app with in our app directory), or using the App link if you are reading this in the AAWP Windows Phone app. If it is available to you, you'll get the trial/buy buttons on screen.
