Hot on the heels of the Skype update, Microsoft's official SkyDrive application has been updated from version 1.0 to 2.0. The update appears to be more of a performance update. However, there is now the ability to select multiple files – something that has been sorely missing from SkyDrive and other cloud storage applications.
There has been some misreporting on the subject of this update, though. The recent SkyDrive update that introduced short URLs has not been implemented with this application. E.g. from our testing, sharing a SkyDrive file will yield a long-form URL – not the sdrv.ms domain. There have also been reports that version 2.0 introduced a thumbnail view; however, thumbnails were in version 1.0.
