361 Degrees talk eBooks at the London Book Fair

Published by at

Popping up between their "seasons" of shows, Ben Smith and Ewan McLeod have thrown together a very special mini-series of discussions from their visit to the London Book Fair. After having a look around at the digital landscape, their attention turns to the various mobile parts of the eBook ecosystem, including Amazon, Kobo, Nokia, and the biggest question of the day... where's Rafe?

From the track listing:

  • Part 1: We discuss London Book Fair to investigate the future of digital publishing, its relationship with the mobile industry and (briefly) the whereabouts of Rafe Blandford.
  • Part 2: We visit the Nokia stand in the digital zone at London Book Fair to hear about  Nokia Reading and how the firm views content distribution as an essential part of the new Lumia ecosystem.
  • Part 3: We meet Michael from Kobo to discuss the firm’s innovative eBook distribution platform and how they see integration of social features as key to their product’s development.
  • Part 4: We speak to Broma Patel – one of the organisers of London Book Fair – to discuss the new digital zone and hear how the show is adapting to include digital.
  • Part 5: We meet Tom from Amazon to hear how they’re developing their Kindle platform, especially for authors wishing to self-publish.
  • Part 6: We review their visit to London Book Fair and discuss the overlap between digital publishing platforms (like Amazon’s Kindle) and app developers. Can the two stay separate for long?
