The existing app, The Caddie, is already available for Windows Phone and a number of other smartphone platforms.
At the heart of The Caddie app is a database of golf courses around the world, which has been built up over 20 years. It includes information about the holes, including scoring information, distances and overhead maps. When you're playing on a golf course this allows the app to present information about the current hole, and combined with the phone's on board sensors (GPS) shows where you are located. It can therefore act as range finder providing information about the distance to a green or a specified layup. Also included are aerial maps offering a visual overview of every hole.
The Caddie also helps you keep track of your score by letting you fill in a pre-formatted score card (it already knows the par for every hole you play). You can optionally get a completed score card emailed to you after every round you play and the app will also keep track of your stats and handicap information.
The Nokia Lumia exclusive version, The Caddie+, has a number of extra features including GolfScope, an augmented reality visualisation of other golfers on the course; Lumia themes (to match the colour of your device); tournament scoring (for when you're playing a scramble, best ball or skins); and support for live scoring (allowing you to share your score in real-time).
