geoDefense Swarm blazes onto Xbox Live

Published by at

This week's Xbox Live title is geoDefense Swarm, a game from Tower Defense genre and sequel to the popular geoDefense title, that sees players strategically placing towers (weapons platforms) on a playing area, in order to kill enemies ('creeps'), before they can get to the exit. The creeps come in ever increasing waves, making for a frenetic and fast paced style of game play.

geoDefense Swarm has the same vector style graphics and high production quality of its predecessor, but this time round, rather than having predefined paths for the creeps to move along, the playing field is open, with the placement of towers helping to define the route to the exit.

The playing field is laid out in hexagons and each tower placement takes up one space. On the more advanced levels some spaces are blanked out (no towers can be placed but creeps can move over them) and there are additional objects that can help or hinder (e.g. hexagon spaces that speed up the creeps).

Aside from the new style of gameplay and game field other new features include support for OpenFeint (used to power online leaderboards); the inclusion of one endless level per difficulty group; new tower types; new style creeps; and additional challenge types.

The Thinking Man's Tower Defense Returns! Introducing geoDefense Swarm, the sequel to the critically acclaimed geoDefense.

geoDefense Swarm takes all the dizzying vectorized visuals, vexing challenges and highly kinetic addictive gameplay from the original, and changes the equation – instead of defeating creeps along a pre-defined path, geoDefense Swarm challenges you to use your creativity, building mazes for the creeps to navigate across obstacle-laden open levels.

With the ability to compete for the high score with friends on the leaderboards and exclusive Xbox LIVE achievements, this is a tower defense game like no other!

geoDefense Swarm can be downloaded from the Windows Phone Marketplace here; a free trial is available, with the full game costing £2.29 / €2.99 / $2.99.
