Opening the app reveals a pivot with hub, positions, watchlists, portfolios, and search pages. The hub page contains a summary of market activity (stock indices, currencies, market news headlines and economic and company events); positions shows a list (and summary information) on your stock holdings; watchlists lets you see information for user specified stocks; portfolios shows a summary of groups of positions (i.e. you can collate several stocks into a portfolio); and search offers a way to quickly find any stock.
Tapping on the currencies or indices shortcuts on the hub page leads to a page that shows currency rates against your home currency (and recent movements) and a list of the major stock indices (and their recent movement) respectively.
Each stock has its own pivot (summary, add/edit/close position, news and performance), which can be access by tapping on a stock name on the positions, watchlists, and search pages of the opening pivot.
The summary page shows all the key information about a stock (price, trends, volume, ratios etc.) and, at the bottom of the page a stock graph. Turning the phone into landscape orientation shows the a full screen chart, with options to change the date range and chart type. The news page pulls in recent news headlines that are relevant to the selected stock.
If you don't hold a position in a stock there's a page to add a position; if you hold a position in a stock a pages for editing or closing a position are included. This is how Markets & Me handles the management of your portfolio. It is these positions that are added to the opening pivot described above and that are used to generated the summary information about your portfolio that is displayed along the top of the screen at all times.
The market news headlines section of the app, accessible from the opening hub page, gives quick access to news headlines from Reuters. The companies and economic calendar section of the app lists the date and time of upcoming earnings releases, company presentations; as well as the public dates for economic indicators and related reports. It can also be customised to show events from one of more region (US, UK, Germany, France, Japan and China).
In an app like this your personal data is important - that's why it's great to see the developer has included a cloud backup to SkyDrive option. User's positions (i.e. which stocks they hold) are back up as an Excel document. Equally welcome is the ability to sync with Google Finance, giving you another backup option and a web / desktop option for viewing and managing your portfolio.
