Look, it's the first Final Fantasy game, and it's on Xbox Live. Either you know exactly what I'm talking about (in which case all you need to know is that the cost is £5.49 / $6.99 and you can get it in our App Directory), or you'll be wondering what the fuss is. So let me explain very briefly before we review the title next week.

Final Fantasy on Windows Phone / Xbox Live

Final Fantasy is a popular RPG (role playing game) series which has been running for 25 years through a number of titles, with the main releases taking advantage of the latest console and gaming hardware available. This mobile version is based around the first title, released in 1987 (although the code base is derived from the twentieth anniversary edition released for the Sony Playstation Portable).

The Final Fantasy world, especially in these early titles, is one of heroes. Four Light Warriors are given a quest, to defeat the four elemental fiends who have stolen the power of wind, air, earth, and water. Do that, restore order to the world, and be back home in time for tea. Simple.
