Listen to audiobooks on your Windows Phone with Audible

Published by at

A Windows Phone app for Audible, a provider of audio books and related content, is now available in the Windows Phone Marketplace (currently US only). There are currently more than 100,000 audiobooks available in the Audible catalog, all of which can be browsed and purchased through the Audible mobile store. The Audible app makes it easy to download and listen to the content you have purchased through Audible.

The app has been built from the ground up for Windows Phone and it shows, offering a showcase of what's possible with elegant use of the Metro UI. The book listening experience is excellent with support for bookmarking, a sleep mode, and a button free mode (control via gestures).

The app also allows you to collect badges (similar to Xbox achievements) and provides statistics about your listening habits, both of which are a clever way of encouraging users to download and listen to more books. Facebook and Twitter integration lets users share their current listening habits with friends (and also acts as a neat promotional tool for Audible).
