Asphalt 5 roars into pole position on Xbox Live

Published by at

The regular Xbox Live title this week is Asphalt 5, not ssurprisingly the fifth iteration of Gameloft's racing franchise. With eight different styles of racing in the game, alongside more than 30 'supercars' (and the Mini Cooper S), there's a lot of arcade action to be had on your Windows Phone.

The Asphalt series has always aimed to be less of a simulation style and more arcade like in both presentation and handling and Asphalt 5 continues that ethos. You'll be travelling round the world to visit the racetracks on offer as you build up points and money to buy more cars and get the most from the game.

Asphalt fans will be wondering about the rather low number in the title - Asphalt 5 has been out for some time in the gaming world and has been available on other mobile platforms for a year or two. Part of me thinks this is an "oh we still have this in the cupboard? Best get it out!" type of release. But it plays well, the graphics look good after a quick spin in the trial version, and Gameloft are pretty good at getting the difficulty curve right in their driving games.
