Those of a certain age (young in the 1980's) will have nostalgic memories of handheld LCD games. These portable gaming devices let you play a single game and featured very simple graphics and controls. And now the style of game has been re-created for Windows Phone, which some how seems fitting, as mobile phones are really the natural descendants of these early electronic toys.

JEFBCreating has published a number of titles under the LCD Rebirth brand: Escape It, XBlox, Hungry Snake, World Cup and Grand Prix (all free).

Escape It is a move through a tunnel while avoiding walls style game, simply rendered in LCD pixels. XBox is a Tetris style game. Hungry Snake is an implementation of the game that was made popular by its appearance on a number of best selling Nokia mobile phones. 

World Cup is a massively simplified game of football. Grand Prix is a simple car racing game, where you have to steer around obstacles. All of the LCD Rebirth version has simple on screen controls with two game modes (classic and difficult).
