The valuations, according to What Car?, are "are compiled by experts from a range of sources - including dealers, private sales, auctions and classified advertisements across the UK" and cover all "makes, models, engines and trim levels covered, plus correction for mileage".
To get a valuation you search for a car specifying make, model, body style, version, year, and (optionally) mileage. The app will then supply you with a results pivot view. The first page (valuation) displays a list price and target price (new car); or a dealer price, private price, part exchange, and trade price (used car). The second page (review) shows reviews scores and rating drawn from the What Car? website and magazine. The third page (similarly priced) shows a thumbnail gallery of cars with pricing similar to the search result. Results can be saved to "my cars" or "wish list" for quick retrieval, shared with friends via email or social networks, or pinned to the Start Screen.
The app also includes a dealer locator feature. Using the phone's GPS the app shows local garages in both a list and on a thumbnail map. Tapping on a dealer on either the map or list opens a page showing additional details, such as telephone number and stock (car type) details. There's also a handy link to the built in Maps app for directions.
