Will you 'Go for Goal' with Gameloft's Real Football?

Gameloft's soccer franchise makes it to Xbox Live this week, with the release of Real Football. It's a curious title which feels a touch dated. The lack of a year in this franchise title also made me raise an eyebrow. What exactly is on offer here?

Get ready for a football season and battle for the cup with Real Football, the benchmark for mobile football games... Face off in 14 stadiums detailed in 3D as you perform amazing moves with a simple and intuitive touch of the screen.

According to the app directory listing, the game features "8 leagues, 245 teams with real player names, thanks to Gameloft picking up a FIFPro license". The inclusion of real names is good to see - having played Read Football on the Symbian powered Nokia N8 with unofficial names it can be quite painful playing "Aston Birmingham vs Manchester Red"

This isn't the latest iteration of the franchise, but an updated version of the 2010 base game. When the 2012 version is available on other platforms, and the 2013 title is ready to be released, Windows Phone picking up the 2010 title (but with the year cunningly removed) seems a bit of a sneaky move.

The full review will be here next week on All About Windows Phone, but you can grab the trial now from our App Directory.

(...and for the American Windows Phone fan, you can have Real Soccer instead so you don't get the game confused with American Football)
