Lumia 920 video stabilisation comparisons to iPhone 5, One X and SGS III

The Nokia Lumia 920, just around the corner now (next week!), has as one of its killer features, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) in its camera, meaning that stills come out less blurry when the user's hands aren't perfectly still and that video footage comes out a lot smoother. The folks at Test-Mobile.fr have put this latter attribute to the test with a set of three test videos, embedded below, comparing footage from the Nokia Lumia 920 to that on the Apple iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S III and HTC One X.

Here are the three videos concerned:

Nokia Lumia 920 vs. HTC One X:

Nokia Lumia 920 vs. Apple iPhone 5:

Nokia Lumia 920 vs. Samsung Galaxy S3:

What do you think of the results? The iPhone 5 has accelerometer-based software stabilisation and seemed to hold up well to the Lumia 920 in terms of smoothness, but was very obviously far less clear in terms of picture quality, while the One X and SGS III video was far more shaky and hard to watch.

We should be getting review hardware in just a few days and will be able to perform our own assessment of this next generation smartphone camera technology, including putting it squarely up against the previous smartphone camera/camcorder champion, the Nokia 808 PureView. Watch this space!
