Gameloft has announced its intention to bring twelve of its titles to Windows Phone 8 as Xbox Live games. The majority of the games are already available on other platforms, but there are some high profile names, such as Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, Asphalt 7 and The Dark Knight Rises, on the list. There's no information on availability, or pricing, but it is likely to games will be rolled out over the course of the next 12 months, with pricing similar to existing titles.
The announcement is also a demonstration of how games can be more easily to Windows Phone, thanks to support for native C++ development and the presence of a number of leading game engines. Gameloft was already a major supporter of Windows Phone, but it seems to be stepping up a gear for Windows Phone 8.
The Gameloft blog notes:
All 12 games will be optimized to take advantage of the Xbox ecosystem and services, allowing players to connect with their Xbox friends to play multiplayer in Asphalt 7, N.O.V.A. 3, Order and Chaos, UNO™ & Friends, Texas Poker for Prizes and Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, compare Xbox Achievements & Leaderboards, and even switch from one device to another using Play-Pause-Resume via Xbox’s Cloud Storage in select games.
