Microsoft's 'Meet Your Match' marketing campaign begins

Looking to catch lightning in a bottle once more, Microsoft's Ben Rudolph is leading the latest campaign around Windows Phone. Called 'Meet Your Match' it once more sees Rudolph out and about in public, asking people what they use their mobile phone for... and showing that Windows Phone can do it better.

It's not the 'Smoked by Windows' challenge that captured a lot of coverage during 2011 and 2012, but something that looks more at capability than outright speed.

It’s a different take on our Smoked challenges, focusing not just on why Windows Phone is faster, but also on why it’s better, easier, more useful, and more fun. The soul of Smoked – a side-by-side comparison of us vs. the other guys – hasn’t changed, but now it’s about why our phones and features are a better match for you, no matter who you are or what you’re into.

And the result? It looks something like this:

It's good to see Rudolph back out again doing what he does best, evangelise the Windows Phone platform. The Smoked by Windows Phone challenge was a fascinating piece of marketing in the early stages to the world's tech writers and bloggers, but as it expanded (dare I suggest that as the Corporate teams got a hold of the idea) it started to lose focus.

This regenerated effort loses both the competitive element and the risk that Windows Phone might lose a match, but is less likely to be derailed by someone forensicly reading the terms and conditions for a loophole. Let's see where these take Rudolph this time around...
