WindowsPhoneGeek, in conjunction with Nokia, are holding a "Lumia Geek 8-Week Challenge" developer competition to "celebrate the launch of the Lumia 920 and 820 devices". Prizes available, over a range of categories, include trips to Barcelona for MWC, customised Lumia devices, an opportunity to demo their app at WIPJam, and more.

Categories include People's Choice Award, Ultimate Lumia Geek, and Best Lumia Technology Showcase. The last of these is for entries which showcase the best usage of core Lumia features, such as imaging, NFC, Nokia Maps, and Nokia Music APIs.

All developers need to do is submit a new or updated version of their app to the Windows Phone Store, and then enter the competition via the WindowsPhoneGeek website. The competition will run from 13th November to 8th January.

The competition offers a great opportunity for developers to win a trip to MWC, which is the premier mobile event of the year. There's plenty on offer for developers, with multiple training events and networking sessions, but it's also a way to take an overview of the mobile industry at a single event.
