Buddytude shares your recent location with Google Latitude

Published by at

Buddytude is a new, unofficial, Google Latitude client for Windows Phones. As it sounds, it lets you share your location and see friends located near you using the Google Latitude service. Screens and link below, it's available in both trial (with adverts) and commercial (£0.79p in the UK) versions.

Buddytude is described thus:

A Google Latitude client to share your location and see friends near you. You need to have a google latitude account and you need to have friends sharing their locations with you. The sole purpose of this application is to share your location with friends using Microsoft’s Location API and Bing Maps. However, you have also the option to open a friends location in the Windows Phone Maps App and to write an email or call your friend directly out of the app. Pin the app to your home screen to periodically update your own location and see which friends are closest directly on your tile!

You can run Buddytude's main map view in either plain or hybrid modes. Note the black bar where an advert would lie in the trial version.

Head into 'settings' to log into Google and pass your location to Google's Friends API, the core of its Latitude service. From there, any friends logged into Google Latitude can see your location, or at least where you've been in the last half hour. Even if Buddytube isn't in the foreground, simply keeping its Live tile on your Start screen is enough to keep the data dribbling out...

Download Buddytude from the Windows Phone Store.
