Facebook app ready for Windows Phone 7.8

Published by at

In what we can only assume is preparation for the public release of Windows Phone 7.8, the Facebook app for Windows Phone 7.x devices has been updated. With no change log or details on the official Facebook page, we'll join the rest of the internet in putting this down to two factors. The first is the continuing quest for improved performance and bug fixing, the second being support for the upcoming Windows Phone 7.8.

WP Central are reporting that v2.8 now supports the double width live tile - a feature that is set for Windows Phone 7.8, and already exists in Windows Phone 8. Of course WP8 devices are already a version or two ahead, running v4.1 on the latest handsets, so the idea that 2.8 is setting up the app for WP7.8 feels like common sense.

Facebook for Windows Phone makes it easy to stay connected and share information with friends. You can post status updates, receive Live Tile updates, check your news feed, review upcoming events, check in to places, manage your inbox, upload photos, publish notes, accept friend requests, pin Places and Messages as Tiles, and look at your friends’ photos, walls and info.

You can pick up the latest build of the Facebook app through the Windows Store on your handset, or via the AAWP App Directory.
