The pace of Lumicus is quite slow, giving you time to plan and think your moves. This is important because I never felt I was playing an arcade game that asked me to react quickly with the first move that seemed sensible - Lumicus felt more strategic, with planning and forethought a number of moves ahead possible.
That's down to the other part of the game mechanic. Any group of four or more connected colours can be double tapped to vanish, just as the target shape, giving you gaps in the playing field to allow blocks to fall through, giving you more options to build shapes.
