Laridian's PocketBible app is now available for Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8. Laridian is well known for its software on other mobile platforms, and have a loyal following. The developers behind the app have been working on Bible-related software for more than 25 years, a heritage that is very much apparent in the app.

Key features of the app include full offline support (read and study the bible anywhere), fast and intuitive navigation (scrolling, plus powerful table of contents), search tools (find by word or phrase), bookmarking, verse sharing (text, email, Facebook), and the ability to pin a book to the start screen.

While the core app is free, if you're a power user you may also want to upgrade to advanced feature set ($6.99 cost) using the app's in-app store (or via the Laridian website). This allows more than 20 books (content pieces) to be stored on your phone and adds a number of features including split screen view, highlighting, verse notes, and the ability to pin a bible's contents to the start screen.

PocketBible comes with one bible translation (King James Version) included as part of the Windows Store download. However, to get the most out of the app you will need to download additional content. More than 40 additional pieces of content can be downloaded for free (e.g. American Standard Version, Darby's new Translation, World English Bible, Jamieson-Faussett-Brown Commentary, M'Cheyne One Year Bible Reading Plan, Easton's Bible Dictionary, Foxe's Book of Martyrs).

Additional bible translations, maps, dictionaries commentary, devotionals, and other content can be purchased via the in-app store. The cost of this content ranges in price from $4.99 to $129.99 (e.g. IVP New Testament Commentary Series) and there's an impressive and comprehensive selection to choose from. You can see the full range of the content available on the Laridian website. Laridian also offer a number of bundles (content collections), which offer better value than indvidual purchases, and are a good way to start a content library.

One of the key benefits of Laridian's PocketBible is that content is tied to a user account, not a device, and the PocketBible app is cross platform with versions also available for iOS, BlackBerry, Android, and Windows (PC). This means it is possible to easily move content between devices, future proofing any content purchases.

PocketBible is the preeminent way to read and study the bible (and related content) on the go and this is reflected in the many positive reviews already submitted to the Windows Phone Store
