There's no doubt that the live tile concept is a big attraction for Windows Phone, and the addition of the small tile in WP8 has opened up far more flexibility and inventiveness in start screens. But can the simple building blocks offered by Microsoft be used to create specific themed layouts? Digital Trends decided to find out.

With five target markets, the team got to work with built in apps, shortcuts, and downloads from the Windows Store to fill out start screens for the average joe, minimalist, social media addict, power user, and media junkie.

Start screen for the Social Media Addict
