Microsoft's BLINK burst mode gets LED support, easier editing, sharing

Published by at

You may remember my original story on Microsoft's new 'burst mode' utility for Windows Phone's camera? I followed that up with my round-up of all burst mode contenders and now I can report that BLINK just got itself an update, to v1.2, adding support for the LED 'video' light, plus easier editing and sharing from the review screen. More below.

You then point and shoot, gathering over a dozen images in a second...

New for this update, v1.2 are:

  • Support for the LED video light, i.e. this is on constantly during the BLINK burst capture. Yes, your subject may be eerily lit, but hey, at least it's lit!
  • Easier access to edit and share menus for previously captured sessions
  • Link to the right forums in the “about” page for FAQs and for bug reports

On the main menu, 'flash' is the new option. The LED is turned on immediately, so you'll get an idea of whether it's going to be enough to light your burst mode subject....

When bringing up previous BLINK sessions (they're stored in their entirety in the Windows Phone Camera Roll), there are now 'edit' and 'share' controls immediately apparent, i.e. you don't have to do this from within 'Photos'.

BLINK may have come off second best in my roundup, due to its low output resolution, but I've still got it as part of my camera toolkit on Windows Phone and it's good to see the utility continuing to be developed. You can download or update BLINK for free here in the Windows Phone Store.

Below is a reminder of the launch video, here's how BLINK works - you'll get the idea:
