Samsung issues minor updates to its Windows Phone apps

Published by at

Samsung has been relatively quiet in the Windows Phone ecosystem of late, but as noted by WPSuperfanboy is has recently updated a number of its own Windows Phone 8 apps (Now, Music Hub, MiniDiary and Photo Editor), suggesting the Korean manufacturer is continuing to provide some level of support for its existing Windows Phone devices.

None of the apps have a chnage log available, but the updates are likely minor bug fixes and performance improvements.  Some device manufacturers release the latest build of custom apps in line with the release of new hardware, so the updates may also tie in with the timing for the upcoming release of a Samsung Windows Phone 8 handset on US operator Sprint.

Now (updated to version 3.6.2.2) brings essential daily information in a single panorama view:

You can check today's weather forecast, the latest stock market figures, the currency exchange rate, or read up the latest headline news and top tweets. It’s very easy to access all the information by swiping from side to side. Using push technology, live contents such as current weather and news could be updated on the tiles.

Music Hub (updated to version 1.0.0.29) is a rebranded version of the 7digital music store:

Keep your music close and access a world with 17 million songs. Samsung’s Music Hub, powered by 7digital, provides an intuitive playback system that helps you search, discover, sample, purchase, and download tracks on the go. You can also manage your songs and create playlists. Samples let you listen to 30-60 seconds of each track.

MiniDiary (updated to version 2.2.3.5) is an app that makes it easy to keep a daily journal:

Mini diary is a diary app that makes keeping a daily journal easier. With Mini diary you can write your diary on the go and capture moments whenever you find the time. You can write short notes, add photos and record where you are. Mini diary can help you keep a chronological record of what you do every day.

Photo Editor (updated to version 1.0.0.437) is a simple image editing app:

Make photography easy with Photo editor. Photo editor provides a wide range of features for anyone from beginners to experts. You can use the effects feature to apply fantastic effects to your photos and even decorate photos with stickers and frames.

Produce amazing results using the available effects, including the distortion effect, and you can even select parts of the photo for more detailed editing.

The apps are available to download from the Windows Phone Store, but are only available for Samsung devices.
