Browse manufacturer listed apps on WindowsPhone.com

Published by at

The apps section of WindowsPhone.com now lets you browse through the app listings for manufacturer specific apps (e.g. Nokia collection, Samsung Zone, HTC Apps, and LG apps store). Previously these listings were only available in the Windows Phone Store app, although the individual app pages were accessible via direct links. The apps will also appear in search results.

The listings are available for Nokia, Samsung, HTC and LG. If you are signed into a Microsoft account, and have a Windows Phone associated with that account, you'll see an appropriate link for your currently active device. If you have more than one Windows Phone device associated with an account you can select the currently active device from the drop down menu on the right-hand-side of the page (hover over user name).

From the WindowsPhone.com app pages you can opt to remotely install an app to your device (requires device to be on and have a data connection available).

The listings are a useful way of checking out what kind of app manufacturers make available for their handsets. Previously this was only possible by examining a live device, or knowing the direct links to all of the manufacturers own apps. A quick examination of the page for each of the current manufacturers shows how far ahead Nokia is, in terms of the number of apps listed, but do note that Nokia lists a number of third party apps that are available, in some form, for all Windows Phone devices. It's also worth noting that some apps (e.g. Settings app modules such as Nokia's display+touch) are not included in the manufacturer listings.
