Angry Birds Rio is now available for both Windows Phone 7 and Windows Phone 8. This version of the bird flinging game ties in with the 3D computer animated film Rio (released in 2011), and features some unique twists and characters. In total the game has more than 210 main levels, with an additional 40 unlockable levels. As with other recent Angry Birds titles the Windows Phone 8 version of the game is Xbox live enabled, but the Windows Phone 7 version is not.
The game was first released for iOS and Android in March 2011, so Windows Phone arrives rather late to the carnival. However, this doesn't really diminish the game play, which remains as addictive as ever. Nonetheless, Rovio's fans will be hoping it doesn't take quite so long to deliver the latest installment, Angry Birds Friends, to Microsoft's mobile platform.
Windows Phone Store description:
What happens when everyone's favorite fierce fowl get caged and shipped to Rio? They get very angry!
In Angry Birds Rio, the original Angry Birds are kidnapped and taken to the magical city of Rio de Janeiro, where they eventually escape their captors and set out to save their friends, Blu and Jewel – two rare macaws and the stars of the hit motion picture, Rio. Angry Birds Rio pairs the physics-based gameplay of the original game with unique twists based on the film.
Angry Birds Rio can be downloaded from the Windows Phone Store for both Windows Phone 7 and Windows Phone 8. A free trial is available, with the full game costing £0.79 / $0.99 / €0.99.
