Mass Effect series arrives on Windows Phone 8 as Lumia exclusive

EA's Mass Effect, the popular science fiction themed series of video games, is now available on Windows Phone 8, in the form of the Lumia exclusive title Mass Effect: Infiltrator. The title, which is already available for iOS and Android and is best described as a companion game to the main trilogy, is a 3D third person shooter, that sees Randall Ezno, a Cerberus agent, going rogue after he discovers his employees cruelty.

In the Windows Phone game you move through a Cerberus base, detailed with impressive graphics and atmospheric audio, taking out enemies as you go. There's a simple control system, with character movement and firing via taps and swipes on the left and right-hand-side of the screen respectively.

As you might expect there are a series of upgrades available in the form of high-tech armour and weapons (biotic powers, cloak abilities, and more). These upgrades are purchased using credits, which are earned by playing the game (more credits for "stylish" kills). There's a bonus level to lock too, along with the usual Xbox achievements.

Mass Effect: Infiltrator will surely be popular with the fans of the main series, but should also appeal to those looking for a 3D third person shooter on Windows Phone.

Windows Phone Store description:

As Commander Shepard battles Reapers across the galaxy, veteran Cerberus agent Randall Ezno procures aliens for illicit experiments at a secret facility. But when the Director of the facility goes too far – Randall fights back and vows to bring Cerberus down!

Can you fight your way off the hostile Cerberus base and deliver their secret research to the Alliance?

Mass Effect: Infiltrator can be downloaded from the Windows Phone Store. The title is currently exclusive to Nokia's Lumia devices, is only available for Windows Phone 8, and costs £5.49 / $6.99 / €6.99. It's a sizeable game at 476MB, which means you have to use a WiFi connection for the download, and ensure you have at least 1GB of free internal memory for the install to go through correctly.
