RSS app Collector adds theme support and infinite scrolling

Published by at

RSS feed reader Collector has picked up a small update this month, in advance of the great 'powering down' of Google Reader on July 1st. At that point a lot of people are going to be looking for a replacement reader on their smartphone, and Collector is putting itself in a prime position to pick up a lot of new readers.

While the arguments about Google Reader and if it was a boon or a curse to the RSS ecosystem in the last decade will continue, it's clear that Google switching off the service is being seen as an opportunity by many to establish their product. Big names like Flipboard will pick up the majority of switchers, but clients like Collector should also expect to see renewed interest.

Here's the change-log for v 1.6.1:

  • New Light/Dark reading theme
  • Improved stability while scrolling the articles
  • Infinite scrolling changed to pages (memory friendly)
  • Pin icons and some new welcome screens
  • Little improvements around the app

Collector is available in the Windows Phone Store, and there's a well balanced trial version so you can see if it works for you and your favourite sites.
