Nokia Chat beta updated with Tap+Send, location sharing, and more localisations

Following on from the 1.0 release in April, the Nokia Beta Labs have released v1.1 of the Instant Messaging client for Windows Phone. Along with the bug fixes you would expect in a beta release, the team have added in 'Tap+Send' NFC support to share contacts, place sharing with HERE Maps, and layout improvements to ongoing chats.

Nokia Chat is now available in an additional seven countries, taking the list up to 27 (Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Finland, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Macao, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, and Venezuela).

Nokia Chat continues to be powered by Yahoo! and is available on Windows Phone Lumia devices, alongside Symbian, S40, and Asha devices from Nokia. Rounding up the new features, Nokia Chat has:

  • Tap+Send (NFC) Between Lumia Phones
  • Share a Place
  • Performance and Visual Improvements
  • Enhanced Login
