Third party Vine client 6sec improves account tools

Published by at

While we continue to wait for an official client for Twitter's micro-video service Vine, Rudy Huyn has updated his third party client, 6ses, with improved account management tools.

The two main updated to v1.0.1 are the ability to block or unblock someone, and the ability to accept or refuse follow requests. While these might seem small features, part of Vine's power is the social network, and being able to do the management features on your friends list is an important one.

It also has the benefit of putting 6sec back in contention for the the 'New+Rising' tab in the Windows Phone store - as always half an eye on how your app is being discovered is a vital skill for the indie developer.

6sec's major features, from the directory listing, are:

  • Find, follow, and interact with people close to you.
  • Explore trending posts, featured hashtags and channels.
  • Search Vines using hashtags.
  • Share Vines to Twitter and Facebook.

6sec uses an intermediate server to post your videos to Vine, so if you want to use this service beyond the two trials, you'll need to do a single in-app purchase to unlock the service. Browsing and watching other videos remains free.
