Nokia Photo Transfer for Mac gets your memories from your Lumia

Published by at

Nokia has released a new app that aims to make it easier to get photos and videos from a Lumia phone to Mac computer (or vice versa). Nokia Photo Transfer for Mac, a 10MB download, provides an alternative to Microsoft's Windows Phone Connector app. The Nokia tool takes a more direct approach, akin to a direct file transfer, that may be preferred by some users.

More importantly the new Nokia tool includes support for the special types of photos taken by Nokia's various imaging apps. For example, the tool will transfer both the high-resolution (5MP) and full resolution (34MP) version of photos captured using Nokia Pro Camera's dual capture mode on the Nokia Lumia 1020. Similarly, it will import the .nar and .npo data files generated by Cinemagraph and Nokia Smart Camera respectively, ensuring you valuable memories are safely stored somewhere other than your phone.

Mac Transfer

In operation Nokia Photo Transfer for Mac is a little slow to transfer files, but it the app will provide a warning if it thinks the transfer is going to take a significant amount of time. In addition to importing photos and videos from a Lumia device, the app can also be used to export photos from your Mac to a Lumia device. Photos or videos that are dragged and dropped into the Nokia Photo Transfer for Mac are transferred to the phone and will appear in the camera roll on the phone.
