Published by at

Season 5 of the 361 Degrees Podcast kicked off last month, with the fifth episode being published yesterday. The 361 team, consisting of Ben Smith from Wireless Worker, Ewan MacLeod from Mobile Industry Review, and the All About sites own Rafe Blandford has already covered a variety of topics ranging from connected TVs and wearable tech to the third ecosystem and the pitfalls of buying a mobile phone.

Here are a couple of highlights from the season so far:

Episode 5 - buying mobile devices:

This week the team consider how to buy mobile devices and the best options for convenience and price. We discuss how we bought our handsets and why 'operator-supplied' isn't always the best.

Additionally...

  • Rafe sheds some light on how manufacturers are tailoring devices to score well in benchmarks;
  • Ewan has a haircut; and
  • Ben gets angry about BlackBerry bugs.

There's also some more coughing.

Episode 3 - The third ecosystem and enough apps

This week we re-visit the battle for 3rd place in the battle of the eco-systems... Is anyone winning and are Nokia or Blackberry the only players to consider? Are Firefox, Ubuntu or Jolla real contenders or could Android fragment into competing strands?

The team talk about the crucial part apps play in equation - reflecting on 'quality vs quantity' - and Rafe is sacked as 361's pop-culture correspondent for not knowing who Daft Punk are.

and more...
