Bringing some more competition to Baconit in the field of Reddit clients for Windows Phone is Synerex International's 'Baconography', which has been updated to v1.2 today.

As well as browsing the front page of Reddit to read the stories and follow the links, Baconography will let you log in to your Reddit account and sync the subreddits (categories) that you have marked as your favourites so they are quickly available on your phone.

Baconography will allow you to click through on a Reddit link and have it open up in the web browser. Comments on the link are displayed in the app, along with the ubiquitous arrows to vote links, stories, and comments, either up or down.

The app also has a cache mode both for offline viewing and to improve the response time of the app. The app will also recognise when it is connected over wi-fi, on mains power, and at a suitable time of night to download content into the cache while you sleep.

The new version of the client offers:

  • Predictive caching improves responsiveness and lets you browse disconnected.
  • User multireddit support.
  • Lockscreen and live tile support.
  • Send and receive messages, get notifications on post and comment replies.
  • New submission support.
  • Comment sorting.
  • Major performance improvements: more responsive UI, unlimited pinned subreddits, faster load times.
  • Double-tap on header automatically scrolls to top.
  • User-configurable interaction style for extended links (tap or long-hold).
  • In-app purchase available for ad removal.
  • Lots of bug fixes.
