Hill of Glory just about manages to have a story to follow (World War II), but in reality the main appeal is the screen bashing frenzy as you try to keep the unrelenting hordes away from your defensive bunker. The game play style is top down, which generally works well, making it easy to quickly move around the 3D world (swipe with a finger), but it can sometimes be tricky have complete situational awareness.
Hills of Glory 3D has 21 missions for you to work through (shown across a map of Europe), but there's also an endless mode, which should ensure that the game has good replay value. The learning curve for the game is relatively gentle, but later later levels are difficult and you have to keep your wits abut you (we found, in later levels, that unseen enemy soldiers would lurk in a corner, gradually taking down your bunker piece by piece).
Hills of Glory 3D, which was released earlier this year for Android and Windws 8, is Advanced Mobile Applications Ltd. first Windows Phone title. It's an impressive debut that it likely to leave gamers wanting more.
Windows Phone Store description:
“Kill them all…if you survive of course. It’s time to save Europe and make History. We’ll land in Italy, fight many battles to reach Germany and end this War. We need you to maintain our most critical positions!”
Hills of Glory 3D is a free download from the Windows Phone Store. The game is a freemium title, with additional in game currency available via an in app purchase, but there's a decent amount of game play to be had for free (coins mainly act as a shortcut to upgrades).
