Historical accuracy is not the order of the day in a game like this. You're flying in a direct course, there's no altitude to worry about, and tight formations of enemy fighters with countless visible and slow moving bullets fill the sky.
But you know what you are getting into with a game like this, and Armed Strike hits the right beats, with power ups for your own weapons, health boosts around the level to collect, and end of level powerhouse aircraft to take down in a digital David and Goliath.
Key to the enjoyment of an arcade game is the control system, and Armed Strike offers you the three popular variants for a modern smartphone... you can drag your finger to move your aircraft around the sky; steer with a virtual joypad under your thumb on the left of the screen; or using the accelerometer to fly around.
One thing that is accurate is the camouflage on the aircraft - while not disappearing into the background this isn't a science fiction based neon coloured extravaganza, and in a way I appreciate that, although some may find it a bit of a strain.
