Acting partly like an infinite runner, you control Totes, who will never stop running to the right of the screen. What you need to do is time your jumps and your slides so you avoid King Chomp's troops who are guarding your route to your friends. This makes the control system relatively easy to work through, with two virtual buttons on the bottom left and bottom right of the screen.
Like any good platformer, each level has a lot of items you can pick up. The majority of these are coins, the currency of any good jumping game, but you also have magnets to help you collect the coins, cauldrons full of coins, and more.
Here's the plot, courtesy of the App Directory:
Run, Jump, Slide, and Splat! Help Totes save his friends across 30 levels of chaotic mayhem. Navigate your way through levels through Chocolate, Candy, and Ice Cream as you dodge the minions of the evil King Chomp.
King Chomp’s army of minions have kidnapped the entire village, and it comes down to you, Totes Jelly, to save the day. Save your friends and get together to save Princess Sweetness from being King Chomp’s dinner.
Some platform games are very deliberate - Jelly Run is not one of them. You'll be springing across the screen, and the vertical changes you can make through jumps, ramps, and springboards is immense. Fast reactions are required, and while the first few levels are relatively free of obstacles, the challenge speeds up almost as much as fast as Totes can run.
Available as a £1.29/$1.49 app, a trial version is also available via the AAWP App Directory.
