361 Degrees Podcast - "RIP Nokia (Devices & Services Division)"

Published by at

In the eighth episode of the fifth season of the 361 Degrees Podcast the team discuss last week's Nokia and Microsoft news. The podcast offers a summary of what was announced, explains there's more of Nokia left that you might think, considers the whys behind the announcement, and ponders what might have been done differently.

Oh and Rafe gets blamed for the whole thing (thanks Ewan)...

Episode description:

This week the team cover the sale of Nokia's smartphone and feature-phone businesses to Microsoft. Rafe schools us on how and why it really happened and we ask whether someone so knowledgeable about the deal really be blameless... really?

The team reminisce about favourite Nokia phones and wonder how Ben made it to 2013 having never owned an N95. We also pause briefly (very briefly) to discuss how - annoyingly - you need to ignore the realities of proper corporate governance if you want to believe the conspiracy theories.

Goodbye Nokia-branded smartphones and all the best to all those affected by the sale.
